Our properties are a place for our Service Users to call home. Each of our sensitively adapted houses offers a safe, comfortable and stimulating environment in which they can thrive.
From the outside, the properties are attractive houses in established residential areas. They vary in style, from a three-bedroom modern bungalow to a substantial 10-bedroom Victorian house with an acre of private grounds. This breadth of choice enables relatives and carers of service users to select the accommodation most suited to their requirements and preferences and allows Service Users to switch within a familiar culture and continuity of staff as they progress or if their abilities or needs change.
Inside, the homes have been carefully adapted to meet the physical and sensory needs of our service users. We have an ongoing programme of refurbishment to maintain and improve our properties.
In 2020 we introduced nine additional residential homes, formerly operated by the charity Henshaws, to Homes Together. We now have 12 homes in Harrogate and Knaresborough and one in Gateshead, managed across our two divisions, Lilford and Pennington. Each one of our properties shares the same Homes Together ethos and culture, with a strong focus on wellbeing and opportunities for both staff and service users to reach their full potential.
Our homes are warm and welcoming communities in their own right and they are also very much a part of their local area. They are well-located for recreational, leisure, hospitality and retail facilities. Regular activities include pub visits, clubs and societies and shopping. We also actively involve service users where possible in cinema, swimming, concerts, horse riding, discos, fitness classes, scuba diving, walking and gardening. For more on the choice of activities available, read about service user Nat Maynard.
