Liz Dear – Deputy Manager at Farfield Avenue, Knaresborough


Liz Dear joined the Homes Together team in 2006, starting as a Support Worker at The Gables and working her way up through the ranks. She was promoted to Deputy Manager in April 2009 and today works at the Farfield Avenue home.

With an extensive background in the catering industry, having studied General Catering, Liz worked in a hotel in Pateley Bridge for 22 years, covering every role from chamber maid to front of house manager. She left the profession due to developing arthritis in her feet, which meant her usual role of working and standing for eight hours was unsuitable. This coincided with Liz turning 40 years old, and having always been interested in care work, she decided a career change was what she needed.

Liz’s favourite part of her role is the opportunity she gets to divide her time between hands-on experience as a key worker and managerial duties in the office. She enjoys meeting with healthcare professionals and building relationships that ultimately foster the most supportive environment for the residents.

She has a passion for voluntary work, and has gained additional experience in this sector through volunteering at the Riding for the Disabled Association. Her other interests include swimming and meals out at restaurants.
