Not So Much Sun but Sea, Sand and Food: Darren Explores Scarborough

Scarborough visit

Posted on 30th June 2015

Darren, who has a learning disability and visual impairment, took a short break to Scarborough accompanied by Homes Together support worker Samantha Whitaker from Monday 20 – 22 June 2015.

Homes Together arranged for a company car to take Darren and Samantha to Scarborough. Upon their arrival the weather was rather unpleasant, however, this did not dampen Darren’s enthusiasm and he was still able to enjoy a range of activities during the two day trip. These included swimming, taking lunch in Peasholm Park and sampling the sites of Scarborough, where he was keen to buy souvenirs for his friends and catch a train ride to the seafront.

Samantha said: “Darren is fond of eating out and likes variety – he relished the chance to sample the food in the hotel and local restaurants. In the evenings, he liked to have some free time to himself to listen to music and watch TV, so the schedule was planned to accommodate this request.”
