Darren and Martin Enjoy Paris Trip

Disney, Parisian landmarks and waterslide fun were definite themes of a holiday for two Homes Together residents this spring.

Martin and Darren, who both have visual impairments and mixed learning disabilities, enjoyed a week in Paris from 19-26 April 2015, accompanied by Homes Together support worker Michael Spence and registered manager Ross Taylor.

Following a bus journey from York to London, where they spent the night, the group then took the Eurostar to Paris. They stayed in a comfortable Airbnb rented house, which was used as a base throughout the week for various excursions, including to Disneyland Paris, a water park and the city centre.

Michael Spence said: “They had a brilliant time – Eurodisney was definitely the main highlight. Martin has mobility problems, so we were able to adapt activities to how he was feeling at any particular time. For example, he rested in the house on a couple of days while one of us took Darren on a tour of Paris. At the water park, Darren loved the slides, while Martin was able to relax in the wave pool.”

Homes Together is committed to providing meaningful and often life-changing activities for individuals in its care, tailored to their needs, interests and abilities. These activities include, where possible, excursions in the UK and abroad.
