At Homes Together we have developed a unique training programme that is available to all staff, providing knowledge of visual impairment, learning disabilities, mental health, and challenging behaviour.

Knowledge is important for Homes Together to ensure everyone is able to do their job to the best of their ability and so that service users and staff can understand one another. Our team is extremely proud of how well trained they are and how it allows them to serve the residents better and develop their own careers.

We link training to practice and also measure competencies and acquired knowledge through work-based and academic assignments.

However, not all training is about specific areas of the job, and some courses are provided to help staff understand specific conditions of some of our service users.

Many staff who complete the training successfully and achieve national vocational qualifications receive acknowledgement through salary increases and promotions, but the real payoff is in the quality of service they provide and the difference it makes to the lives of the service users.

A list of the core training for every team member is as follows:

  • Food Hygiene Training
  • Medication Administration Training
  • First Aid Awareness Training
  • Fire Training

In addition we also encourage each staff member to complete the necessary Health and Social care qualification framework.
